Abs light 'on': '05 Maxima?

I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima with approx 61,000 miles. The ABS and Brake lights came on and stayed on. When I shut the car off and re-started it 5 minutes later, the lights did not come back on. I drove for a couple minutes and noticed that they were illuminated again. I do not want to pay $1500 for a new ABS circuit box. Anyone have this happen before or know how to resolve this issue?
