TV presenting experience?

This sounds kind of wierd but, I have been told loads by teachers and family, and friends, that I have a "beautifully flowing voice" and am great at speaking out loud-but recently I heard a girl from blackburn where i live got a BBC presentin job with reggie yates...Its really inspired me, but do she said she got loads of small jobs before like BBC blast and north west news....Where can I go to get to do things like this, or courses, or get experience generally and do you think this is a good idea....
